School History
Han Sipsma, ‘Oom Han’ as the visionary leader and principal of the school started the school. Mrs. Morag Askham gave the school its name “Rabboni” from John 20:16 and composed the school song. Rabboni means “Master” or “Teacher”. Mrs. Petro Booysen designed the school badge with the motto “Serving the Master” (basic history of the school)

The Vision for the Han and Martie Sipsma Foundation
In the 29-year history of the school, Rabboni has then identified challenges in the school and some of those has been financial issues which has had a GREAT impact both on the students and parents, because of these challenges came the inspiration to start this foundation. Our parents go through challenges, in particular financial difficulties which affect the schooling system and therefore this foundation was born to target those who are disadvantaged.
The foundation aims to help our in-house community who faces financial difficulties but also allow us to extend the hand of opportunity to kids who are not affiliated to the school by any means whether it is through parents or former student but deserving individuals and therefore the initiative was born.

Once Off
It is important for everyone to understand that the foundation at a later stage spreads beyond the school borders. It will give us as a school the opportunity to give out bursaries to deserving students (it will give a pool in terms of being in demand of top students in the school) Currently the foundation is set up for in-house deserving families but has the potential of servicing beyond the four walls of Rabboni Christian School
The Aim of the Han and Martie Sipsma Foundation
The aim is to start with 30 kids the foundation will be helping get through school because there is a need for financial help when it comes to investing in the future of these kids. It also very important for the foundation to have a follow up with the children when they are done with their studies, we will have a programme where we do a background check as far as the future of these children to understand we are not only taking them to school but also do justice to society by doing our part in building character while giving high quality education.
Our plan moving forward with the Han and Martie Sipsma Foundation
We are working towards a bright future, and that is why our main objective is to contribute to the future of these kids by giving them the ability to go through school without worrying about finances. We just need people who are going to believe in this project as much as we do. The main objective is to give both parents and children hope for a better future.
Closing Remarks
We call on all the former students and parents to get involved for the legacy of Rabboni to be carried forward to the next generation.
